Information sent during a lookup

When you submit the downloader form, the public SlideShare presentation URL is sent to an AWS Lambda-backed API. Like any network request, the request also carries ordinary technical information such as an IP address, timestamp, user-agent information, and response details.

The API uses the presentation URL to fetch the public presentation HTML and extract the slide image URLs it can find. It does not ask for, need, or use your SlideShare username, password, session cookie, or other SlideShare credentials.

Slide image requests and local file generation

After a presentation resolves, your browser requests the selected slide images through the API proxy. The API retrieves the image responses needed for those requests and returns them to your browser.

Your browser—not the API—assembles the aggregate PDF, PowerPoint (.pptx), or ZIP locally on your device. The PDF and PowerPoint outputs are image-based, and the ZIP contains separate ordered JPG slides. Your browser and operating system control the final download location.

Rate limiting and operational data

Lookups and proxy requests may be rate limited to protect the service from abuse and keep it available. The API and web infrastructure may process ordinary request and error information needed to apply those limits, operate the service, diagnose failures, and protect it.

Browser storage

The light or dark theme preference is stored in localStorage in your browser. It remains on your device unless you clear it or your browser removes site data. The downloader does not require a user account.

External services

The lookup API runs on AWS Lambda-backed infrastructure. To resolve a request, the API contacts the public SlideShare presentation page and the image locations identified from that page. Your browser requests those selected remote images through the API proxy rather than inserting returned image URLs as unescaped page markup.

SlideShare Downloader is independent and unaffiliated with SlideShare. SlideShare's own privacy terms apply when you visit or use SlideShare directly.

Content responsibility

You are responsible for having the rights, license, or permission required to download and use a presentation. Public accessibility does not transfer copyright or authorize republication. See the terms of use for acceptable-use details.

Contact correspondence

If you email the address on the contact page, your email address, message, and details you choose to include are handled by your email provider and ours. Correspondence is separate from downloader requests and may be retained as needed to answer, investigate a report, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Do not send credentials or unnecessary sensitive information.

Your choices and questions

Do not submit a URL if you do not want it processed through the lookup API. You can clear the theme preference through your browser's site-data controls. For questions about downloader requests or correspondence, use the contact page.

This policy may be revised when the service or its data flow changes. The current text on this page governs the described service behavior.
